Then, in the 19th century, British inventor Michael Faraday started experimenting with evaporating ammonia to cool down the surrounding air. A few decades later, in 1902, Willis Haviland Carrier, in the US, invented the first modern air conditioning unit. Ever since then, the air-conditioner has been making life tolerable for people in hot countries.

In the 1970s and 80s, some innovative car manufacturers realised the potential of putting air-conditioning in cars. Somehow, it just seemed that opening a window wasn’t cutting it in 40-plus degree heat. Quickly adopted by manufacturers like Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler, air-conditioning became available in most top-end cars.

Instead of arriving like you’ve just done ten rounds in the ring or run a marathon, you can get to where you’re going in total comfort.
