Hillarys is an attractive beachside suburb in northern Perth, about 20 km away from the city centre. It is a largely residential area, which first grew up in the 1970s - like the suburbs around it - such as Sorrento and Duncraig. It is perhaps best known for its boat harbour, a large marina built in the late 1980s. The marina includes a large shopping area and a ferry terminal serving Rottnest Island. Offshore is the Marmion Marine Park, an area with a wealth of marine life that attracts many local divers. Outdoor space is found throughout Hillarys, with the beach and numerous parks meaning that you're never far from somewhere to kick back and relax.
